Duke is adorable and looks very similar to one of my pups. I couldn't see too well but it looks similar to demodectic mange if its balding and flakey, I would see a vet if it doesn't get better within a month.

that's called hot spots if a form of dermatitis. first keep it clean and keep it dry. going to have to watch he isn't laying on a blanket all day it needs air flow. hot spots can be a minor or major thing so watch it close. you can use human hydrocortisone cream if you have some laying around but it might not be strong enough. never used it my self so no clue how well it works. second go to pet store ask what they got to treat it, it used to be called sulferdean (cheap like five bucks a bottle)and it always worked. third is go to vet, this probably wont clear up on its own. which ever way you go if it starts to get worse go to a vet its pretty much an open wound with bacteria doing bad stuff.
