We’ve covered this a few times- but let’s speak to this specifically. Firstly- while none of the info is patently false- the fact that the maker of this could t even be bothered to find out what the warranty on a pro stand is shows the thought that went into the comparison. That said- some things are misleading.

For one thing- the pro stand CAN be used with other monitors but is made specifically for one particular Apple monitor. It does not come with VESA Mount because if you are using the matching monitor you don’t need the VESA. one of the features this omits and many aren’t aware of- the pro stand has a neat little powerful magnet latch built in that is made to securely, simply, and elegantly hold up the particular monitor that is built for it. Frivolous? Yes, mostly. Much the same as the lights or shiny bits on many high end gaming PC’s are or many features found in high end cars. It’s a “cool” and advanced design for people who like those sorts of things and can pay for the luxury- although it does have some practical merit.

The other points most people miss are that 1. The pro stand is designed- despite its slim profile and simple looks, to offer assist in moving the monitor so that it is very easy to position and to make precise adjustments- a feature many stands lack. It also is designed to be extremely stable, keeping the monitor in one place- unlike many stands which when slung with large heavy monitors, simply tapping a foot under the desk can cause the monitor to wiggle on the stand.

So like most people- this comparison ignores many of the features of the pro stand and compares it to stands lacking those features. It is not as many people think, and in fairness it looks like- a simple machines metal thing with an arm. So while most of the facts presented here are true- they ignore comparisons of features let alone something WAY more important than specs on paper- reviews from users.

Is $1,000 a lot for a monitor stand? It’s more than I’d pay- I don’t need and can live without the $5,000 monitor this stand is designed for and the stand and it’s features too. Are their cheaper stands? Yes there are. How sad life is when “cheap” is what decides ones hand though. You’ll find that on paper by the specs a mid 2000’s Nissan Maxima would make a fair match at a much better price than many classic Ferrari’s or Porsche’s. In reality however you would find that not only in most regards will the classic sports car outperform, but it will do so while generally being agreed upon as being more enjoyable to use, without lousy cheap plastic interior, and of course- by most regards look much better and be more stylish while doing so. Money asides not a lot of people would turn down a Ferrari 250 for a Maxima as a dream car.

And as for having 2 monitors- the pro display xdr that the Apple stand is made for is $5k to start and is 32”. 1. Can the dual stand even fit 2 32” monitors or support the weight? 2. If you spent $10k to buy 2 professional reference monitors and you wanted to save a bit by buying a cheaper stand... ok. I can see that. But the people mostly bagging on this don’t need, use, and mostly couldn’t afford a single $5,000 monitor let alone 2.

To put it in perspective- a $1,000 stand for a $5,000 monitor is like buying a $100 stand for a $500 monitor.
