I'm assuming that you are the guest in the above conversation. There is no need to insult people who strive for a better world, even if you believe they are on the wrong track. Ignore the ones that annoy you and everyone will be happier
Use the humans...animal tests are not accurate enough. Last I checked, I wasn't a mouse. Besides, there are plenty of trial tests that pay you. Get volunteers. Hell, when a person dies in jail, why can't his organs be harvested?
I understand why people say stuff like this, but I can't help but be confused by it. I mean, yeah, committing horrible crimes like this, it's like so disgusting, but this person is STILL human. Why does this society feel the need to give animals more right than most of the children in America. Animals are not people, and there is NO CHANGING THAT!! The prison system was put in place for rehabilitation!!!!!
They're called the cute and fluffy laws. They were put in place because the animals are cuddly. Like what they did with the seal-clubbers. They were all like "Oh no baby seals!" but seriously the lose of that industry for those Eskimos caused a bunch of people to starve.
But the animals didn't do anything. In my opinion, animals and humans are equal, seriously, what's the difference? Some people believe humans are the most powerful, but we really aren't. Just look around, we're really stupid compared to so many other animals.
Wrong. Humans and animals are not equal. Sure we should respect animals, but we aren't torturing the rabbits for fun, we are doing it to help our fellow humans. The "cleverest" an animal can be (crows or dolphins for example) still only equates to the intelligence of an average 4 year old at best.
The cute and fluffy laws can be bad, true, but if those Eskimos had driven the seals to extinction, which was likely, they would have been far worse off. And no Eskimos starved because they couldn't club baby seals anymore, seriously, there's far more meat on a walrus than a baby seal. Seal pelts were sold for money not food.
Animals are not people, but people ARE animals, and there is NO CHANGING THAT. The only thing that separates us is brain power. Animals have nowhere near the rights of children, where the hell did you hear that? And if our current prison system rehabilitates anyone, it's the exception not the rule. You really think that individual animals who hunt humans for sport and laugh at the people they hurt are worth more to us as a society than animals who have been bred for thousands of years to be beneficial to mankind? But hey, if you want to live next to a 'rehabilitated' violent serial rapist and wife beater who got paroled due to prison overcrowding, you do that.
Because these people, these criminals, took away another human's right and treated them like a "filthy animal." So why not do the same? If you're going to rape an unwilling, passed out female or beat on a defenseless child, why shouldn't you experience what it's like to have no power and be abused? Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you.
And testing it on prisoners would be more beneficial to other people anyway. Things always happen differently to people than to other species... That's why medication has a human trial phase before it can be approved!
I agree. Unfortunately the key demographic on this website is idealistic teenage girls; obviously they would rather save a rabbit than another human. weird. Although I guess we can't expect them to have a fully developed moral compass at that age.
I'm pretty sure we aren't saying "hey just go ahead and pull somebody off the streets and test them". If it's so cruel to people, why is it okay to do to animals? Yes, people and animals aren't the same, but in my opinion it's our job to take care of things that aren't as advanced as us. Just like it's adults jobs to take care of kids. Animals would understand even less of what was going on than a child would... I mean, I hope for a time when we can test this on lab-grown cells, but hey. I'm just an idealistic teenage girl. That will probably never happen, since lab-grown cells can't scream.

People like you exhaust me. Educate yourself. It's clear from your post that you have no idea what you're talking about, and it's not my job to teach you.
mgoviea, just because someone has different values to you, doesn't mean you are right and they are wrong. I agree with the idea of the picture, because it seems stupid that those who have done wrong to fellows of their species should be spared to live better than our elders, while those of an 'inferior' species are used simply because they have less brain power and are less evolved. I am not 'educated' in these matters as you say, and nor do i intend to waste time learning just to please you. The concepts I have stated are based only on morals and my understanding of certain issues, and many others I would assume are the same. If you could stop acting like you are the only one who understands fully the conversation while not giving evidence, I'm sure many would be grateful. But hey, I'm just an idealistic teenage girl - as that guest said - right?
And margin note to *that* guest. Judgemental people are close-minded people. Grow the extra brain cells needed to develop feelings, then reevaluate your own moral compass

Time spent learning is never wasted. Also, I never asked you to learn in order to please me. You should learn for your own enrichment.

Wrong. I'm assuming I'm the judgemental one, here. I actually have a VERY open mind. It's a necessary trait if you want to be educated. Oh, and spare us the "morals" routine. It's an imperfect world, and "morals" aren't a magic trump card to win arguments.
P.S. I'm sorry if it bothers you that I didn't "give evidence". One tires of putting effort into one's comments when the inevitable result is ignorant/troll responses and downthumbs.
Mathew, I agree morals are not a 'magic trump card', however I never said my morals were an excuse. In fact, I raised the matter in order to DISPELL arguments, providing an explanation to my opinion. I intended to imply that my comment was based on morals, and so people with different morals would not bother me. I don't mind you believe something different to me, so long as you don't attack others over it.
I....just don't care anymore. This was a trainwreck to begin with, and if you're going to take weeks to respond...
I mean, I knew I was wasting my time, but damn.
