I never understood this. Like it does make sense if the owner and the Head Chef are two different people, (and also if it's actually scripted), but when the owner and the head chef are the same person? Like you applied because your restaurant is failing, (at least I hope so, and not for a chance to *finally* get on TV), and yet you're being an asshole and jerk to the guy who knows exactly how to fix it?

People who follow the traditional path to chef de cusine or whatever it’s called spend years honing their craft and are regarded as top artists. That personality type doesn’t lend well to criticism which is why the show is entertaining. If GR just came in and gave them a checklist it would be boring.
