Oh I read some stuff about that, apparently scientists have made some analysis (I want to say it was on mitochondrial DNA but I'm absolutely not sure) that concluded Native Americans had already had a form of siphyllis brought by Vikings when they "discovered" America!
I mean it's still European travelers so the post is still right but for some reason I like that piece of info.
Well, most of them were dead by the time we started colonizing. Columbus and co had unknowingly given them diseases which then spread across the continent. That said, if they had banded together and attacked all arriving ships instead of fighting each other all the time, north america would most likely still be full of native americans. We have something to learn from that.
