The politics game. You can sit and talk, ask someone to make changes, negotiate and and develop rapport, have communications and at least know what each other are thinking even f you can’t reach an agreeable ends- or you can stone wall. The latter, if you do nothing, that’s not really better than trying and doing poorly to at least do something; or you can go to war. The UN and “league of nations” primary goals are to avoid war by providing a place for countries to at least be able to talk across a table. The UN is... pretty toothless. But, who has something better?
