Well- yes and no. But the original line also refers to a terrorist attack, the first WTC bombing in 1993. So it’s not like the line takes new meaning exactly- the original bombing was a truck bombing that claimed about 7 lives, so the magnitude and cultural impact changed, but plenty of rappers including Eminem made lyrics about the second (9/11) bombing in similarly irreverent fashions as well. So Biggie was rapping comparing his “explosive” growth to a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, just not 9/11- But the fact rappers also made various references in bragging to 9/11 suggests that the lyric is no more or less appropriate than it was at the time comparatively, and the increased magnitude of the 2001 attacks would merely increase the meaning of the line as the magnitude of the metaphor is increased thusly.
