In 1,892 loggers proudly display a 1,310-year-old SEQUOIA with 128 meters high. Its dimensions were so impressive that the loggers had a 9 meters long saw and it took 8 days to cut it. That tree was healthy and could have lived many more years, this shows we've been a plague forever. (What do you think? ))
In Ontario hundreds of thousands of healthy vibrant urban trees were cut down. Cities lost well over half of their urban forest. Why? There was an invasive pest in the area and Ontario cut down their trees to try to control the pest.
Just because we don't see the reason doesn't mean there isn't one.
Many people back then didn't bother or tried to think outside of their own lives. They didn't see any benefit as how the world works or how it may end up. Those that did were seen as crazy, ill, or rarely as a celebrity.
it took 8 days to cut . 10 days to make planks then made a bunch of houses. so they were better at saving the planet than us. plus they managed the forest giving room for new trees to grow . they did not have petrol cars so less co2 . and they only cut what they needed. and did not throw things away just cos they broke they fixed them.
