Never hurts to ask

A few years ago I pulled out on the road and this car came out of nowhere and hit my side. It happened to be an off duty police officer. I went to check on him and he was acting strange but I was freaking out and didn't pay much attention to it because we both had just been an accident. A ton of police officers showed up and I told them what happened and I legit thought it was my fault so that's how it was wrote down. Looking back on it I'm pretty sure the guy was drunk, the police knew that but covered it up cause it was their buddy, and since I thought it was my fault they let me think that. There was a car when I pulled out, but this was at night and their lights weren't on so I didn't see them. He turned them on at the last second. Too late to do anything about it now but I'm pretty sure that's what happened.
