Ah. The no harm no foul rule. Who here wouldn’t be fine hiring a baby sitter who drives their kids around drunk- I mean, if no one ever gets hurt, what’s the big deal am I right? Dangling a baby out a window by the legs for a funny post- if the baby doesn’t fall- what’s the big deal? Why are things like “negligence” or “attempted” anything even considered so bad- if no one gets hurt- what’s the big deal?
We also have to look at the big picture. Every choice is a gamble. If things had turned out the worst they could- the only down side would have been a country losing its two executive leaders simultaneously in an unprecedented event leaving a global power vacuum and likely causing massive economic and political turmoil and a messy and expensive tradition of power. But- I think most of us can agree that is a small thing to gamble compared to being able to not wear a mask and have indoor gatherings. If these were public servants or something, I might feel differently, like they had a greater responsibility to their office and country than to themselves and politics- but we are talking about every day folks like your neighbor the President or your dry cleaner the Vice President- who were just living their lives and making choices for them. So yeah. Let’s cut them slack on this one. It’s not their job to be responsible for anyone else anyway.
Tell that to the more than 50 911s worth of people who his administration got killed with his chill bro it's just a cold policy. I honestly don't understand how anyone can even try to defend the trump administration after they have commented genocide by incompetence or greed.
The US is the only place listing GSWs as secondary to covid as a comorbidity. Now pray tell, who was against closing the borders? Who listened to the experts initially? Which party has been shoving ill people into nursing homes that said from the beginning they couldn't handle it? Just to spite the Navy hospital ship.
Leave your sensationalism at the door, unless you thinking flooding Chinatown and the transit systems was the right call for initial infection response.
Whataboutism. We an talk about how poorly everyone else has handled Covid- but that doesn’t change the fact that the current administration has done an abysmal job at it even if it can be a successful tactic to redirect and distract inna debate. I don’t think this has to be about party politics- but if you want to make it about parties- a major difference between the two parties is the Republicans hold the highest executive positions. Conservatives hold the Supreme Court including the newest member- appointed by this administration. Republicans control the majority in the seats of representatives as well. So comparing what the guys in charge are doing to what the guys who can easily be outvoted are doing... little thin.
Especially when we consider that we can’t argue both things are true at once- that our current administration is effective and decisive- AND somehow at the same time they are unable to do their jobs because the minority power in government is just too formidable for them to overcome. What would they need? 99%+ of the higher branches of government under party control?
As to your stairs analogy- the mortality risks of walking down stairs tend to be much lower than those of Covid- but you are aware the president and VP aren’t allowed to travel together and there are numerous other restrictions in place over even seemingly mundane things they can and cannot do- exactly for the reason to prevent both from being taken out by accident or on purpose st once no?
