Please let’s make this happen

In the end, instead of applying smarter solutions to problems, we tend to default to reactionary and previously tried solutions which didn’t usually work so well long term before. In part because it is intuitive to do so and easy to just follow our more primitive natures. In part I think because (just as has been discussed in the “why do girls like jerks” topics-) People who act without thinking but seem confident in doing so are often idiots who are proactive because they don’t care to understand the gravity or implications of an action. Coupled with confidence this creates the illusion of competency. People who are scared or don’t know what to do will rally to a person who offers answers and SEEMS to know what they are doing, even if they are just reacting in instinct.

It certainly is better in some situations do to anything, even not the best thing, than nothing. Being paralyzed by indecision is not usually a virtue. But more often it is worse to do the wrong thing than to delay a reaction until one can do the right thing. There’s a balance point there, but we want the right thing and want it now- so someone who convinces is that they can deliver that is usually our pick, and unfortunately is also usually an idiot.
