Unpopular opinion: They had such a great movement, but as soon as a few bad apples joined in they lost all support. It's really sad and I hope that things change, but up here around where I live BLM has so much hate directed at them now
The organization as a whole has changed drastically. A lot of older folks, some of whom actually protested segregation and racism during the 60's and 70's, have left the organization because there are quite a few bad apples and the direction of the organization is leaning more and more towards an extremist nature.
Yeah, the way they took things was too far in the wrong way. It could have been a good movement and you guys can downvote me all you want, it's not going to change the fact that somethings do have to change, just not in the way they are trying to now
We were all on board in the beginning. Speaking from the Right Wing, even most of us were backing police reform and demilitarization. Libertarians especially.
Then, from our point of view, BLM and Antifa (intertwined in our perspective) demonstrated why police needed IOTVs and M16s, and why law-abiding citizens need fire insurance and AR-15s.
Hell, some of us could be convinced that cops need uparmored Strykers and M240Bs. And law-abiding citizens, too.
I wish they would have, shown them that there are actually consequences for their actions. everybody involved should have been thrown in a cell or shot on the spot
I wouldn't go so far. I say that at the time anybody not actively burning or assaulting people should have been allowed a warning. Verbal or ballistic. But that ship has sailed, unless something major comes out in the next few weeks, they won.
