I don't think he knows what opera is. The style of it mostly just means it is sang in very high notes and often in a different language. It's not that it's thoroughly described.
Nothing like cold reality to kill a joke. But it depends on the opera really. Not every pop song depends on repetition, not all emo involves death, most country involves beer however. I guess my example lends itself more towards a poorly translated Anglo-Saxon epic poem.
