Uhm, NO. Unions suck. I'm in one right now and basic unionization is terrible. Crappy people around you all the time, aggression between workers and management which breeds issues and distrust, further deductions for NOTHING on your pay. Unions are a third income tax. Take your money for what YOU can do.
Rely on yourself and do a good job. Don't let others control your financial future.
As a fellow member of a union, I don't know what union you are in but it's nothing like the ones are here. They make sure we have top of the line benefits with good pay. They give us legal recourse for anything that is breaks our contracts. The dues make sure you can retire with actual pay and insurance, because we all know social security is fucked by the time we'll get to use it
No arguing here. Just a discussion. Do you use all of your benefits that you pay for and why can't you find or fight for those yourself? If a company tries to screw me over all I do is call the government, they make a phone call, and everyone backs down. As for the oay and insurance, I have my own insurance and it's cheap. It doubles as an investment as well. As for the pay, my job is overpaid because of the Union. This job isn't worth the pay and it attracts doorknobs who abuse the ability to not get fired.
i agree with unions in the base of what they were, not now. There was a time in Australia, when the government made it so employers can fire workers without warning or blah blah blah. An employer, fired a worker who was constantly late, failed to do his work on time, do a good job and was generally a regret, but was part of a union. The union picketed the workplace, made it a nightmare, the union boss even had a say about how the new law was unfair and this is what would happen. Under pressure, the boss hired the worker, for two weeks they NEVER showed up. So, instead of firing one person, he closed his business letting got of the dozen or so people, so no one had a job. What did the union boss have to say about that, "no comment", he did his job, he got the worker's job back after being unfairly "fired", but once the business went under, it was no longer his problem. FK unions.
That is my concern. Unions serve the employees but the company is the one who is being served. Without the company there are no jobs. Without the workers there is no company. Both sides need to come to terms on this.
