Both sides are taking each other out of context. This is like watching the literary equivalent of a food fight.

It's actually three sides. Two sides arguing about what their imaginary friend _really_ meant to say, and those who couldn't care less about the whole idiocy in the first place.
One thing that's cool is when people take that message to heart, and create/support a Rescue Mission for the homeless, donate food and money to food banks, work on Habitat for Humanity or the equivalent to build and repair homes, etc.
What I *don't* get is people using Bible quotes to support the compelling of *other* people to support causes that they themselves don't. It's quite easy, and very fulfilling, to demand the confiscation of others' property to support things that seem good but apparently not good enough for those people to spend their own money and time on.
