Dude wasn't even fleeing, just wandering around looking for a battlefield; found it, and proceeded to obliterate Santa Anna's army in 20 min. Now... we can argue all day about the political motivations, but that 20 min was an absolute slaughter; and from the perspective of a general initiating such an attack; structurally flawless; even the part where Santa Anna thinks he can run away; that's just ending the choke instead of letting the chokie suffer.
