They look like the last air-bender's ancestors and Zuko's to me. like it could be how the fire nation's attacks started, he was pushed in the fire to die surrounded by hyena's but learned how to use fire in that moment slaying them and slinking away plotting his revenge, creating a new pride passing along his message of hate too his future predecessors teaching fire bending
