Addressing additional points of stupidity:
1) Kyle agreed to give an interview on site and knew there were cameras all around. Didn't cover his face at all iirc. So if he was trying to hide his identity he did it in literally the poorest way possible.
.
2) The "event" in question was a riot that has been described by at least one witness as being "a warzone." Kyle did not actually travel to the "event," he travelled to a car lot at the request of the owners in the hopes of dissuading the "event" from travelling to that property
.
3) There is no evidence Kyle pointed his gun at anyone prior to being threatened (except, perhaps, a comment he claims was said in sarcasm)
.
4) Kyle did not load the rifle.
.
5) "why load a weapon with bullets" - presumably because bullets are literally the only thing that can be safely loaded into the weapon in question without causing it to explode

He could have loaded that rifle with pie. You don't know that rifles life.
