In my first car, I drove with a broken speedometer for a while. This was about 20 years ago, before normal people owned anything capable of diplaying GPS speed, so I had no way of knowing how fast I was going. It was nerve wrecking and I went through a lot of hoops to DIY fix it with epoxy and tyraps, because the car repair guy wanted like 300 bucks to replace the entire dashboard.
