Some people look at hiking for miles and miles and say "I could totally do that, it's just walking around"... It makes me want to give them an empty bottle and strand them.

side story: hands down the most intense exercise I have ever had was climbing a mesa in Colorado, the one in Golden that overlooks the Coors plant. We had to take turns sharing the backpack filled with the booze and hoodies, that shit almost went vertical... and that's all before remembering how to place hands and feet so you don't startle a western diamondback... that would be an immediate airlift, which would be nearly impossible due to sheer winds... so you're probably already doomed unless you make it to the top or find a way to skid down, both of which will elevate your blood flow and circulate the venom... so it's prayer for a dry bite or doom. Not to mention rock slides, cougars, going up there just for a "sunset".. meaning you have to get back down in the dark... the temp at night dropping 30-40 easily, with those sheer winds. There is a long way to the top, which is what most people jogging use, but it would still be 2 hrs before they could arrive if you made it and met em

at the pick up spot. Now do that for days? Okay, i'm better than 90% of this country physically, but I have no reservations in saying I'm nowhere near that.
