When Luty was charged and convicted for writing it. And then when the state came after another man for just buying the book. I think this is a hell of a bigger problem than a comic being taken off one district's 8th grade curriculum, but what do I know?
Can't find references to that. All I find is that he was convicted of illegal firearm construction, not for writing the book.
Maus isn't just some comic book, it teaches about the horrors of the Holocaust.
They got the warrant because of the book.
And I've been through the US education system. We cover the holocaust from 2nd grade onwards. You know what else teaches the horror of the Holocaust? The recordings, pictures, interviews, and books that we covered year after year from elementary school through graduation. A single district deciding to take a comic book off the curriculum is in no way a "ban", nor is it preventing students from learning about the horrors of authoritarianism and blind obedience.
Oh, and Luty was convicted for having materials that could assist criminals or terrorists (his book), as well as having pipes that could be used on a gun
Uh... in minecraft
