Oh, but this doesn't even touch on how adorable and innocent they are. They got stuck on some Island outside New Zealand and evolved without predators and lost their ability to fly, opting instead to eat, grow fat and have a good time. Humans introduced cats, snakes and rats to the island that preyed on them. It's said that if they get stressed enough by a predator they climb a tree, wiggle their tiny wings and jump instantly falling. They like potatoes and I love them!
