agreed. the live action treatment doesn’t work. there’s a reason they were cartoons.
and there’s so much more material out there if you just have the bare minimum effort.
Idk, I like the *idea* they decided to remake the cartoons into live action, I just wish they had put more effort into keeping the magic, effort and spark the originals had.
How about being mad that they're using changing a character's skin colour to deflect criticism that they are remaking a story instead of telling a new one, and doing a worse job than the original? Disney's game is "you have to like this, its a <fill in the blank demographic> lead character; if you complain that the film is crap, you're a racist, no matter how bad the film actually is." That's what they did with Star Wars, its what they're doing with the remade Disney classics, and its what they're doing to the MCU: make generic crap films and rely on 'representation' as a screen to deflect criticism.
a-fuckin’-men, dude. it sucks, because they’re taking the easy route out and running product with the least involved effort to make the most money, appealing to the fan base to pay up but then criticizing them whenever they have legit criticisms. like i have actually heard amongst my own friend group no actual complaints about the skin color of Ariel, but EVERY one of my group is saying “oh great, another shit remake”. people really don’t care what the demographic of the character is so long as the story is good enough to warrant the movie in the first place, and, news flash, it hasn’t been for years.

Maybe its actually funny, I don't know.
