It all depends. Young people, especially young people today often have less time than a lot of adults I know- course work can be demanding, they may have study programs, activities or clubs like sports or debate, jobs or gigs, and social lives aren’t just for recreation- now more than ever perhaps networking is important to your future and developing social skills is often critical to development in young people- making friends and socializing is actually a life and career skill in general- usually learned at these young ages. That’s if we ignore any sort of activism, the mountain of poo culture or current events that often go along with their peer groups and fitting in to socialize, and the personal and potential professional or future relevance of social media involvement or management. Of course many kids ignore some or all of these things.
