Perhaps. Or- perhaps it is all rather dumb. What is the difference to you of billions of years or infinite? Both are unfathomable spans of time you have no reference for.
People get very bent out of shape at the concept of “death,” at the very least, to be dead is to not be alive. We are pretty sure of that- that when you die the life you have as you in this world ends.
Ok.
But… you weren’t alive before you were born. Billions of years of history occurred before you were here. You didn’t exist. Is that scary for most people, the idea that things happened before you were born and you missed them? You will die, and to you and the universe it may well be exactly the same as before you were ever born. You may be reborn and die again or you may go to some afterlife and you don’t know what that means or if it will be forever or what. But whatever it is why would it be any different than before you were born? You’ll just be back in that place functionally.
