Indeed. To understand a person is to understand why they are a fool and just how big of a fool they are.
Though to be fair, they may not be a fool at all, a fool is one whom can’t grasp the situation even if all the aspects are available to analyze. Through understanding we can often discover those we thought were fools are in fact just ignorant- theoretically capable of proper reasoning but lacking the information or experience to form reasonable thought or deed.
Understanding is important, we just must be careful not to fall in when we peer into the abyss- it can be a slippery slope between understanding why someone with a certain amount of information or cognition might reasonably to their level of ability come to a conclusion; and starting to believe that just because something makes sense to the simple that it actually makes sense in reality. Understanding and agreeing aren’t the same things.
