That Socrates was a real disruptor. This famous quote is actually came from the historic moment that he gathered up thousands of his flowed and stormed the senate because the elites had obviously faked the votes in the last election. While his death is often erroneously reported as 399 BC, Socrates actually lived into the early 400’s but he was reported dead by those in power to try and stop his subversive movements which by then had made him the 8th wealthiest man in the Greek world, possessing a palace as large as the capital and an equal army in his vast followers.
So Socrates actually witnessed the plague of Athens and at the time warned the people against trusting the government. The government was telling people to distance and stay indoors to avoid spreading the deadly plague, but Socrates knew of their foolish elite games and told everyone in Greece not to listen. It was an obvious ploy meant to control the people and the plague was probably made up.
Also, that is all bull$hit I made up because this is stupid. The issue on social media and news is not questioning the government or the “elites.” Tags and such are being used to flag the sorts of disinformation and outright lies that have caused so many problems and even deaths in recent years.
There are too many idiots and they are ruining things for the rest of us so now they need to start cracking down in the internet because even if it started online you can’t call an insurrection a flash mob. It upsets me we are dealing with this tags and such but they won’t impact me at all. If you’re upset by these tags because they will impact you- you are probably one of the idiots who forced us into a position like this in the first place. They stopped teaching civics and that makes me sad almost everyday. We don’t even need civics. I know you all know Spider-Man or at least the memes. With great power comes great responsibility. Extreme freedoms, the power of the internet and modern tech,
you have these and in a free country almost limitless freedom with them, and then enough people start abusing those freedoms, trolling and using their freedom to intentionally create issues out of petulance and pettiness and ignorance; not some activism or noble cause, just griefing and being miserable $hits. And so they took your toys away because you keep hitting other kids with them. Stop being idiots and start taking the responsibilities that come with freedom seriously and you won’t have problems like this. You can question authority and you can criticize those in power, you can’t spread lies and misinformation and dangerous unchecked idiocy because idiocy is bought by idiots and you idiots keep wrecking things and killing people by being dumb. We are approaching an age where you’re going to force a dystopia because we are going to have to just making being an idiot illegal. That’s not good if we end up there.
And to be clear- I’m not saying everyone is an idiot (though arguably we are all. Including me.) when I say idiots, I am speaking to the idiots. If that applies to you then you are an idiot. If it doesn’t then those things aren’t speaking to you.
