First of all there are gay minors and also keep in mind setting up your own place is getting ever harder these days.

If you can't keep your own place, you can't complain about the house you're in. Until you pay rent, you have no say. My mom wouldn't let me paint my room black, it was her house.

Alright, fair enough. It's his property and his house. What about personal expression and the fact that the flag was her personal property? Should the father be allowed to destroy personal property and ban personal expression?

I don't know how much "property" you think a child is allowed. I couldn't put a poster on my wall because they didn't want tape marks. As long as they're in their parents house, yeah. Doesn't mean they can't feel something on the inside. You don't need a rainbow on the wall to have one in your heart.

Meh, I wasn't a lovable child. What could they do? But that's why I am so strong in my feelings about living on your own. Even in a not so great apartment or room. It would still be yours if you pay rent.

Children deserve love, even when we were difficult. Living without parental love can seriously eff with your self worth. I hope you've found good things in life <3

Parents gaslighting their children into believing they are "not lovable" are the fucking worst. They are responsible for so many major depressions its a fucking disgrace. This is getting me so mad because that's what my wife is still suffering from, nearly fourty years later, and even though she learned to understand the mechanisms. It was THEIR choice to have (and keep) kids, no child ever asked to be thrown into this mad world and the least they deserve is unconditioned love and support. I am aware there are people born bad, that happens, but definitly not more often than people born to be Jesus, or Ghandi or Dolly Parton.
