Debatable? Free speech doesn’t really apply to anyone to say anything. If that were the case we wouldn’t have laws like insider trading or divulging confidential/top secret information. You couldn’t be given a gag order by a court and you could swear on network Tv.
Lies are generally not protected by free speech, you aren’t free to make up rumors that harm someones reputation (slander/libel), you can’t generally lie in court. Speaking of- you can’t call a judge a sack of shit freely instead of “your honor” in their court. Calling in a fake bomb threat etc, threatening to kill someone. Making. A fake police report, making a fake call to emergency services. Most places have laws and most cultures have standards as far as sharing various explicit speech with children/minors and that can and often is a crime. So like… free speech doesn’t mean what a lot of people seem to think it means and most people don’t actually want completely “free speech” where anyone can say anything.
So when it comes time for the defense of free speech of opinions or thoughts you don’t like or agree with… we do have to think a bit. Someone speaking about how an entire race is worthless and probably should be exterminated is an opinion many won't like or agree with and in most any society that cares about human rights that type of speech should likely have limits. Calling on a crowd of people to kill someone, or to commit treason… maybe those need limits..? Maybe if your boss calls you slurs or sexy pet names or demeaning names at work that needs limits because of the imbalance of power and how that can impact your career and general quality of life..? So it is a touch more complex than “free speech for all.”
