As a classical singer, this resonates very strongly. Is it too much to ask that a performer uses proper technique and respects the composer's creation? *Marches off in a slightly snobbish huff* Edit: THIS BIT WAS A JOKE GUISE, KAY?
Sometimes some creativity is amazing, just not national anthems. As a classical singer, you must not have any fun. Free styling it with friends, or whenever really, is pretty awesome!

Not have any fun? Nope, that couldn't be further from the truth. Baroque music especially is written to allow performers to improvise and embellish the melody. I have fun singing even the most somber music just because I love the genre and I love singing with other musicians. :) (Sometimes free styling happens too.)
