If they demand to be called "African Americans" call me a "German American" or an "Irish American", after all my ancestors came from there.

When I hear "African American" I think stop trying to be so politically correct it's weird. But that's just me.

what if a white south african migrates to america. Is he African -American even though he is white? Or is he white even though he is from Africa?

@lolxd: LMAO, I know....it's just to make people think. African American is someone FROM Africa. Blacks in America should not be ashamed to call themselves "black". Its the CORRECT terminology. We have lost all sense in the name of being "politically correct".

I prefer just black...never even been to Africa, neither has any of my relatives that are alive

Blacks weren't called blacks because they wanted to be called blacks. We were called black because apparently we compared to looking like dirt, monkeys, tar, and the actual color black.
