This reminds me of something that happened earlier this week.
Okay, so I'm part of the school newscast and we air a show once a week. Well our next one, my teacher decided to make about superheroes(he's a nerd himself and can talk about superheroes for days). Well we also have 4 groups, each group makes a segment for the show. Well 3 of the 4 had decided to go with stuff about superheroes, villains and superpowers. The last group had trouble coming up with an idea so I helped them out with if. I suggested a "Marvel vs. DC" segment. And 2 of the girls just looked at me and said "What? Is there a difference?" I told them "there's a huge difference!"
And they just said "whatever, we'll come up with something else."
I dunno, looks like they just had a "super heroes" in general themed homecoming. Doesn't have to be specifically marvel or dc (because lets be honest, the number of kids in high school that know the difference is really small, and the number that would admit to knowing the difference is even smaller). Thus the use of MARVELous and also dc super hero icons would be perfectly ok. They ARE both still super heroes, so they BOTH fit under the super hero theme. Could also use super heroes that aren't marvel or DC, although most people wouldn't know many (or any) of those.
Now, if on the other hand they did specifically pick a marvel theme or a dc theme (which i sincerely doubt they did, since as I said before, most don't know the difference) then I'd agree its not ok.
As it is, I just see it as you purposely being picky to appeal to the "real nerd" crowd
I am in high school and I know the freaking difference. And I'm a girl. The least they could have made was a justice league pun or thrown in some actual marvel references, but that poster is just ridiculous and an insult to Marvel and DC fans.
