Found a smart feminist

I think most feminists are smart. As in FEMINISTS feminists, actual feminists. Not the women who refuse to shave and wear flannels and think all men are rapists and that women are better than men, those are sexists. True feminists just want equality between men and women, and I think most real feminists are smart.

Okay, I'd like to point something out: while it definitely isn't as bad in first-world countries for women as it is in other places, that doesn't mean we shouldn't ignore the problems that we have completely. 1.) Yes, I like wearing makeup and dressing up but I DO feel pressured to look a certain way and act a certain way as a woman and I feel insecure and unconfident if I don't fulfill those expectations (and I usually don't). 2.) I have felt threatened and judged because of my gender so many times. There are so many sexist boys at my school. And I do feel threatened as a woman if someone is looking at me in a certain way that's just bad. I live in a less than ideal area and I see a lot of weird guys on a daily basis who have done who knows what. 3.) Obviously I haven't created these problems, they just happen. 4.) I do believe we should focus on issues like the Taliban excluding women's right to education first, that doesn't mean we should write them off as unimportant.

The other three, sure, but three first one inst a problem so much as a social view. There are certain standards that both genders are held to, and logs are a big one. And yes there are more for women, but thats not pressure from men.

Yes, I know that one is a social view, but I was just pointing it out in accordance to the points. Also, I never said it was pressure from men, just pressure in general that needs to be taken care of. Anyways, a lot of times when media or whoever declares these certain standards, then the opposite sex is subjected and sometimes influenced by it. I mean, I see it every single day with my peers (boy and girl) who have unrealistic expectations for how the opposite sex should act and look and such. Usually they outgrow these by adulthood, but many do still hold onto these standards and expect them from the men/women in their lives.

Failure to make room for feminism in any context is a convenient distraction from the fact that you will make 70 cents per a man's dollar in the US. Patriarchy envelopes the first through third worlds. Focusing only on outright patriarchy and not the subtle is choosing to tolerate it nonetheless. You're confusing equality with comfort.

That's not Feminism. That's basic Human rights. Only way to change that is to change those governments and their laws. And the Easiest way to do that is through war. If they don't cooperate at first.

Feminism IS basic human rights. All people are equal. If the goal of your "feminism" is anything OTHER than to be 100% equal in ALL aspects of society, you misunderstand the purpose of the movement.

It shouldn't even be an option.

I do not think this is fair. Now I live in the comfort of the first world, and I must admit that the issues this region faces are minute with respect to the atrocities that exist in other, less-developed worlds, but just because there exists a worse circumstance, that does not make these issues trivial – and certainly that does not make them moot. For instance, the effects of domestic violence are more likely and often more serious among women than men; the same goes for eating disorders. These are very real and very dangerous problems in this high and mighty land, and while I admit that we should not focus on them to the exclusion of other more-serious problems, we should by no means do the reciprocal.

How about we all just stick to our country's issues. Sorry to sound so insensitive but for example, there are homeless men AND women dying on the streets in our own nations. Why are the issues on the other side of the globe supposed to grab our attention? These issues have been happening for decades so move there and do something about it.... I don't see women being stoned in america just getting stoned. PEACE

So just because someone isn't from your own country you shouldn't help them? I mean, there are a lot of things that countries all over need to sort out, but we all have to help each other no matter what problems we may have as well.

I believe what I was getting at is to invest a little more effort in saving your own country first.

Yes, we should help our own countries and sort it all out. But there are many countries who aren't able to help themselves for whatever reason so we should definitely help those as well.

dont complain about FEMINISM which is bitching about wanting to be treated equal to a man but getting to do as little as women were doing before you want to get the same respect do the same shit to earn it, what your little piece of pointless notebook paper should be whining about is a basic human rights issue, BTW I'm glad that instead of doing something useful like volunteering you've done something so massive as posting a notebook page with sharpie on it on a page meant for comedy, it gave me a laugh
