NO! I can't wait five years! I'm surrounding by these idiots every day at school and it is absolutely agonizing. I feel my brain cells deteriorating one-by-one for every second I remain in their presence.
But, seriously. They're fucking awful and I can't stand most of my generation. It seems like everyone is either stupid and ignorant like this girl, or super uptight and obsessed about school and absolutely boring. It's horrible.

I remember feeling the same way in high school. There's not a lot that you can do, other than wait. Find a group that's a bit older than you, if you can. Talk to people online. Try to take note of your classmates' good qualities, no matter how few they are.
@ricepudding Yeah, I tend to make friends with people older than me, though being friends with them as opposed to someone my own age has its downfalls as well.
Anyways, all of my classmates are good people and if I was more willing to get piss-drunk every weekend and I liked gossip and I wasn't ME (so, basically, if I acted like your average teenager), then we'd probably be good friends. Or if I desperately wanted to get A's on every report card and joined any and all academic extracurriculars, then I'd be good friends with the others.
But I'm kinda in between all of that and there doesn't seem to be a lot of other kids my age like that. But it's nice being an individual as opposed to being a part of the crowd, so I don't really dislike it. I just wish I didn't have to be around those people all day, every day. Again, not because they're bad people, just because I get bored and sometimes annoyed.
@imaretard Why do you say that?
Honestly, I know this is so cliche but it will be over before you know it. Just don't let it get to you.
Idk if you're going to college but it was so much better than high school for me. I used to feel the same way as you.
Yeah, I don't let it get to me. It's just annoying. I wish someone was at least mildly interesting so I could talk to them, but everyone has just kinda melded into this blob of sameness. The interesting people probably just keep it all inside their heads considering I usually like introverts more than extroverts.
Anyways, I don't know about college. The school system has been up our butts about it since sixth grade but I still haven't made a choice. I mean, I wanna travel and live and such before doing too much, but I love learning and it's the safe choice (which kinda makes me rebel against it more). It probably won't even be an option considering I'm too broke to afford new shoes much less college.

I would highly recommend taking a year off after high school. A few months trying to support yourself with just minimum wage jobs will be enough to convince you that school is a good idea. :P
But honestly, getting life experience and travelling before fully committing to university was the best choice I ever made.
Erm. "As long as my mom's okay with it, I don't give a fuck what anyone else gots to say"? Evidence that stupid people have been around longer than our generation.
But kids can make choices for themselves despite their parents. I mean, they're definitely greatly influenced by their parents morals and discipline, but they can still decide what's right and what's wrong. Of course, that's not to say what she's doing is right or wrong, but it's probably really unhealthy.
Well, not at first, but they can learn over time even without any help from their parents and they should certainly have some sort of inkling by the time they're sixteen.
Most teenagers who drink started in their preteens, and if you're an alcoholic you probably won't realize it. Even if you do, there are some who don't care. Even if they care, there are some who feel too uncomfortable getting help to "right yourself" and get sober. If you don't believe me, this is from toosmarttostart.gov
"Approximately 10 percent of 12-year-olds say they have used alcohol at least once. By age 13 that number doubles. And by age 15, approximately 50 percent have had at least one drink."
If you think none of them are addicted, I don't know what to tell you, but this isn't a problem starting when they're 19. I guarantee that most of the remaining 50% won't even try alcohol until they're 21. Some won't ever. Every alcoholic I know (which is a lot) started drinking before they were 14.
