Seriously? You don't see us murdering homosexuals, not even close to the same thing. I'm not wanting to argue about homosexuality, that never changes anyone's opinion, this is just a bad comparison...
i don't want to argue either but... i suppose it depends on what you mean by "us." when i think of Santorum, i think of the far right, and their thoughts that "reparative therapy" works on homosexuality although it has lead some to depression and even suicide. yes, it's not directly murdering someone and in the end, it's the person's choice if they commit suicide, but these groups aren't totally blameless either. however, maybe you meant "us" as in just pro-life supporters & not far right supporters, so then nm. i'm just not sure :)
I meant pro life supporters. I would consider myself somewhat right, but not far right. I strongly disagree with how we (meaning some other conservative, and generally "right wing" people) treat gays. It does nothing but spread hatred and malice, definitely not the love of Jesus. Do I personally agree with the common held belief that homosexuality is ok and natural? No I absolutely do not. But saying hateful things and being mean to gays only drives them further and further away from your beliefs, in this case, being Christianity. You can stand up for your beliefs without being hateful, that's what people seem to be missing.
About abortion- Americans have to accept facts that people from other cultures might have a different opinion than them, of course, I'm not only aiming this at Americans. For example, a Chinese might think abortion is completely normal. Due to the fact that a family gets fined for having more than one child in china. Just because someone else's belief in something is different than yours, you don't have to agree with them, but it doesn't mean you have to argue with them over the topic. Just saying
I think abortion is ok in certain cases. Such as rape. But if you planned for a baby, or it happened by accident(like if the rubber broke) then I think it's better to put it up for adoption
Abortion is not killing a baby, it is killing a cell that has the potential to become a baby. If you want to go after people for killing potential babies, you would have to go after every male who ever masturbated before, and any woman who has ever had more than one period. Because sperm has the potential to be a baby, and so does the eggs that get washed out during a woman's period.
I mean each sperm and egg cell has the potential to become a baby, but you don't see people trying to join every sperm and egg.
And also you are allowed to legally murder other people if they broke into your house, but you can't remove a bunch of cells that are going to grow and occupy your body for months?
I don't need a biology lecture good sir. Life begins at conception. I assume you do not believe that though. What about when a cell (speaking of a joined sperm and egg) has a heartbeat? Is it then a person? Because The heart starts to beat around 10 weeks if I am not mistaken, please correct me if I am.
I just think that it's the mother's choice. She is going to have to deal with consequences of her actions, if she chooses to have the baby she will be the one to take care of it and if she chooses to abort it she is going to be dealing with her loss. If you are not going to take care of the baby then who are you to tell someone else what to do?
Ah, I always enjoy these types of debates online. Nobody is ever going to change their minds, but that doesn't mean they're not willing to unveil the true extent of their ignorance while trying.
Edit: Just remembered I was waiting for a reason to bring this up. What would the people of FS say about the choice to have your tubes ties or get yourself snipped and have the gov't pay you a tidy sum for it? Reversible, of course, but that'd have to come out of your own pocket. It'd make me happy because I'm all for a woman's (and man's) right to choose, and it'd save taxpayers a ton of money in the long run. Not to mention it'd solve a problem I see all too often, and that's parents that are on drugs or have any number of other problems and know ahead of time that they wouldn't make fit parents. I see too many new parents that are always looking for someone, family or coworkers, to pawn their new bundle off to so they can go get a fix. For many others, it's a forgone conclusion that they're
going to have their child taken from them when they end up in jail, dead, or just found unfit. I think that this could satisfy both sides of the abortion debate, but I never hear anyone talking about it. I'm halfway thinking I should use that new internet petition thingy to make this an issue before the next election.
Personally I don't think that abortion should be illegal. I think that if a mother has a good reason for an abortion than it should be okay. Like if a mother didn't plan to have a baby and she doesn't want to have one yet. I don't think that it should be used as a birth control though. It's a touchy subject. Because at the same time if the women was having sex and doesn't want to have a baby than she can take birth control. I'm not sure how affective that is though and that's why in certain subjects it should be okay. At the same time you can also put the baby up for adoption. But still... Like I said. Touchy subject. But like that guest up there said, if you're not gunna take care of the baby than it's got nothing to do with you.
We value their life and the doctrine calls us to help people see the light that's why. But as for me, I couldn't careless where you stick your dick as long as I don't wake up with it in me lol.
I feel that we should be able to love whoever our hearts desire, whether it be man or woman. I also believe that an unborn baby is also a life and deserves a chance, so instead of shaming the mothers and not giving them resources I think we should help young mothers, stop sl*t shaming, teach better sexual education at schools, and if a young lady becomes pregnant and can't care for her child choose adoption not abortion
I must say that I have never been in a situation of this sort and even though I disagree with it it is a woman's right to her body
