I don't think "realize" is the appropriate word, here. I always thought it was painfully obvious. It's too bad that the musicians of today mostly seem to be interested in whatever superficial bullshit will make the most money rather than anything with substance or artful enough to make it past "flavor of the week" status.

While I agree that a lot of pop (and other genres, but this seems to be the main one) songs have terrible lyrics, this is in no way a new thing. Seriously, go look up top 100 songs from the 60s 70s 80s and check out some of the lyrics. Yes, there are some really amazing lyrics on some songs (just as there are today), but there are also some songs that repeat the same sentence 8 or 9 times, or talk about hooking up with a guy/girl, or whatever, just like the songs of today. And then think about how those songs you looked up, are HIT songs from an entire DECADE. The problem with comparing music of today to old music, is you compare the avg of today, to the highlight reel of yesterday. I remember hearing about how music was so terrible and lyrics were junk from back in the 90s, now you look back on them, and its a complete different perspective (some will argue its still junk, whatever). I'm sure it was the same thing in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and will continue on with the 00s, 10s, etc

People keep saying this, but if you're going to call this the "highlight reel of yesterday", you also have to admit we're comparing it to the "highlight reel of today". So tired of this argument. It's not as if you're seeing people comparing yesterday's music to some obscure modern shit nobody has heard of, so let's be realistic, shall we?

The artists, Ylvis, a two comedians from norway. They wrote the worst songlyrics they could and handed them to Stargate (who has written songs for Rihanna) in order to make them create their first "non-hit". They obviously failed :-)

Kevin Kline was the funniest because he actually played along- the other guys were just like "You're an idiot, dude."
