I honestly can't understand why gay marriage isn't legal or why it's even being put to a vote. It's a basic human right. There is no reason for it not to be legal and all of those who are trying to promote some bullshit veto saying it's against the bible, "Separation of Church and State." Like they're basically taking away human rights and saying that gay people aren't human, and it's driving me crazy.
If you aren't from Australia, then it is in your best interest not to come here anytime soon. The stupidity of the politics would make your head explode. We had an atheist un married prime minister who refused to make gay marriage legal for any good reason.. It honestly makes me ashamed of our government
I would like to point out that there is not such thing as "Separation of Church and State" in the Constitution. It's a phrase that Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter but it's not an actual law.
But I think it should be a law, because the church has no right oppressing other human beings simply because, "Jesus said it's wrong!" (And Jesus never said anything on the topic of homosexuals anyways. Besides, you're missing the entire point of the Bible.)
Well, apparently there are lots of overly-religious fucks out there who say being homosexual is a sin. In my oppinion, god loves us all and he made us the way we are, I mean, why would god create people to hate on propose? It makes no sense at all!
Thank you. Though, really I was putting that in a similar category as thinking it's gross. Thinking it's gross, thinking it's an abomination.. Pretty close, I think.
songofthewhitestag For example, a lot of people fear that with gay marriage, marriage is going to spiral out of control as well as control of children. People I think fear polytheism will then be accepted. If people argue you can love someone of a different sex, they may argue later that being married to multiple people is okay. I mean you can think people in the US are close minded because we don't accept that like people in other countries. Custody battles will be difficult as well as finances. And along with gay marriage, people are finding new ways to have children and such which is harmful (like mixing the DNA of all 3 children). I personally support gay marriage, but I think people should know that religion isn't the only argument. Part of me wishes marriage was just a ceremony and didn't involve the government, but that would be really difficult for a lot of people, like those who stop working to raise children and then are left with nothing after a divorce or something!
Seriously, I can't understand people who don't like gay people. My best friend is gay and I have two lesbian friends and they are awesome. Every single homosexual person I know is super cool, nice and trustable. It's sick to think that they are an abomination or something
I don't understand people who dislike gay people purely for the fact that they're gay, but I can understand disliking a single gay person who is an asshole. See the really important thing to remember about gay people is not that they are gay but they are PEOPLE. And people—completely separate from their homosexuality—cover the whole spectrum of personalities. Some are nice, and some are rude. Some are hardworking and some are lazy. Some are good at home decorating and some couldn't give a flying fuck if the couch matches the curtains. And you know what? You can say all the same things about heterosexuals and pansexuals and bisexuals and demisexuals and asexuals and transsexuals.
Homosexuality is actually not a magical cure for the petty foibles of humanity, it's just a difference of opinion in what goes where in the bedroom.
