Giving drivers an extra lane during rush hour

Wait, what?

They have something like this in Hawaii, but without the eating/pooping machine. It's just a lane that they can divert traffic into whichever direction they want with gates and shit.

Do they do this every rush hour or something?

If I had that job traffic would be worse than that 11 day jam in Japan

This is obviously witchcraft.

In Canada we do this by using lane control lights. a red X when you can't use the lane, and a green arrow when you can.

I see this on the freeway all the time. Never seen it work before

Some of the streets in Phoenix are like this, but they're just reverse lanes with signs explaining how it works.

I love this. But at the same time it sucks. Because all of the debris built up next to the wall gets kicked up. :( I ride a motorcycle.
