You don't need it. Or they wouldn't make adapters for it

The adapter is meant to attach to the screw that holds the outlet in the bracket and thus be grounded that way (that's the purpose of the little loop that sticks out the bottom) . I have plugged in an extension cord that had the ground prong broken off and got knocked flat on my ass it also not only damaged the cord but also my generator and the power tool I had plugged it. So yeah you take chances I'll stay alive thanks! Don't believe me google it and learn.

I have. I've also used power tools with out the ground been doing it for years never had a problem. If it knocked you on your ass that sounds like a different problem than just a breaking off the ground.

It's so you can plug lots of things in at once, without having to worry about big fat adapters blocking adjacent sockets etc.

The voting politics on this site baffle me. Why are you apologising for not knowing? Why are people thumbing you down for saying so? It's all.. it all seems a bit weird to me. It's like the way we develop and maintain a community is by selectively celebrating and snubbing people. But then I guess that's how people always are, hey.

Yes, most people don't understand the voting system and thus abuse it like most ignorant creatures do.

Well, this site is mostly teenagers, so much of the time it feels like a typical high school popularity contest. Complete with "thinking is for nerds".
