yeah its they are or they're its hard to appreciate what should be funny when all I see is such a what may seem to be insignificant grammar issue.

I think people have the right idea here. I don't come barging in once I see a grammatical error. The comments are right, he doesn't need the extra "are", but at the same time, the guest is right. Sometimes we just need to ignore the mistake and appreciate the humor.
