*face palm* everyone says that things are getting better, that sexism is no longer a problem, but the truth is that it's now being turned on men. Just goes to show how messed up society can be now a days
As a girl I totally agree with you, I don't think things will ever be equal because there are some things that one gender will always be better than then the other but I don't think males should be treated like shit just because society now backs women more than they used too
Yes, I'm all for feminism when it's about equality, but this is not equality, this is women now oppressing men, which as ridiculous as it is, that's what's going on if they're kicking a poor 13 year old boy off a girls team for being better than them, yet they're older than him. I personally find him much more impressive that the girl who proved herself to be better than boys her own age.
Sexism is when a man holds a door open, buys dinner, brings flowers for a woman.
Chivalry is when she does the same for him out of their mutual respect for each other as human beings.
I don't think it's WOMEN oppressing men, I think it's society, I mean lots of men do it too, you can't act like you can't picture a dad going, "that's my girl, on an all boys team" and if he had a son on an all girls team he might be ashamed. I think it's people as a whole.
Why we need feminism is because they didn't expect much from the girl so when she did decently they made a big hullabaloo about it. Yes the boy shouldn't have been kicked off the girl's team, but that doesn't mean we don't need feminism. Especially in other countries where women still have few to no rights.
the girl made tv because she's proving that girls can play sports too and guys already play sports. That is the reason that this happened but it still makes next to no sense. Why the hell did they kick the boy of the team and why did the girl make tv when girls already play sports? I mean yay for the girl and stuff since it was probably cool but why did it even happen that way? Your comment confuses me though. Of course we need feminism but feminism is supposed to be about equality. It should be called peoplism or equalism.
Although I understand that this is wrong and unfair, you people need to realise that the captains of each team probably weren't the same person and probably had different feelings about people and so made different judgements. *puts on fire retardant jacket.*
If this gets worse and people keep saying that it 'serves men right for before' then the roles will just be reversed. We have to remember that we are not the same men that used to oppress women, we have been raised better. What we need is equality for all, because there is such thing as being sexist towards men, not just women
It's the same with racism too. I didn't enslave you fucks, so why don't you start taking responsibility for your failures rather than blaming it on the white man.
So your saying white people aren't racist??? Haha there is so many things wrong with your statement and most of the people that are racist are Caucasian
*generalization And I have never seen more racist people than Caucasians and yes there is some racism from other ethnicities but not as much from Caucasians. And from experience it is mostly from Caucasians
Sorry about the spelling but we spell it that way over in my corner of the world and I must admit that I've only ever been to 3 other countries so maybe I haven't seen enough of the world to judge something as big as racism+ I'm only 16, I still have lots to learn about the world:)
Hmm yes that is very true and you have already been to more places than I have but even though I haven't been to many places I get treated very differently because of my ethnicity. There is so much stuff to learn about the world which makes possibilities endless
I've only been to LA but from what I've seen on TV there is more racism over there than I'm used to in NZ, I don't see why though I mean it's such a big country you'd think people would be used to seeing other ethnicities walking around, I mean jeez it's not 1806 people are people
um guys, this isn't about feminism, this is about gender stereotyping. Yes the girl should be lorded for doing her best, and no the boy should not be penailised for being a boy. I'm pretty sure it want a bunch of feminists who stopped the boy playing sport, I'm pretty sure it was people with a skewed social image of boys roles and girls roles in society. Stop using feminism as a broad statement about gender rights.
This one media case of a boy being kicked off a sports team is not opression. Men holding the door open for women is not opression. In Pakistan, Nicaragua, Africa, Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan, rural china, and countless other places women are married off at 14, denied an education, raped and acid attacked without punishment, and have absolutely no say in government or politics. THIS is opression. Gender stereotypes will always exist in America. Girls will always get slammed on certain occasions, as will boys. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is. Just as there will always be a gay guy being made fun of somewhere, or a black man being wrongfully pulled over somewhere. It's society
Sorry for the rant, but if you honestly say the job of feminism is finished and that men are being opressed, you have no idea what's going on in the rest of the world
WHat do they mean boys hockey team are basically nonexistent ? Men's hockey is on tv quite often, where I live there are several hockey teams, most I which are mixed gender but there are deffinatley boys
