I know a lot of people like these, but I really hate the ones are filled with this clear cherry syrup stuff and have that maraschino cherry in the middle.
They do have Nutella in them... it's the same company. Mind blown?

Different companies actually - Ferrero Roches are produced by the company Ferrero, and while they do contain 30% hazelnut, Nutella is NOT an ingredient.
Wrong:

Ferrero Rocher candies are in fact made by Ferrero SpA.

Look under the ingredients for Rocher:

Hazelnut and cocoa. The same ingredients as Nutella. Ferrero won't say because it is a "trade secret," but most chocolatiers agree that it is indeed Nutella.
Think of the logistics, why make a whole new ingredient, when an existing product in the companies family can be used?

It's not a whole new ingredient - it's a separate recipe which is necessary for the company to reinforce the idea that Ferrero Rochers are a high-class, high-quality and exclusive item. If they just used Nutella it would make them seem cheap. And lots of things are made with hazelnut and cocoa - the combination of the two does not just make Nutella, as this has other ingredients, too.
