Asking the woman if it's okay to touch her while giving birth is practically asking "do you want this baby or not?"
How else are they supposed to get the baby out anyway if she says no?
I think it is more of a courtesy thing. You already don't have control over your body. " hey let's make it worse and touch where she hasn't been able to see in months!" Although i wouldn't call it rape. it would be nice if you were told about what is going to happen and were made to feel like you were part of it instead of just the thing housing the baby. My whole birth plan got thrown out because my doctor had vacation the next week. Basically made me have a c section. Put me on drugs to start the labor and was surprised when I didn't dilate after two days. My body wasn't ready to pop baby out but that was not going to work for my doctor's vacation plans!! I told her the whole pregnancy my family always has late babies. Baby hadn't even dropped yet.... so yea. Being forced into something you don't want.... maybe a little rape-ish.
How rude! I understand that doctors need vacations too but if you were telling her all along that your baby would probably be late then she should have scheduled her trip a little later. Being forced to change your whole method because of a scheduling problem is pretty rape-ish.
This was probably from first time mothers, cause if u don't know what is coming i guess it can be unsettling to say the least. But they don't want to do it as much as you don't want to. So shut up grit your teeth and think, not long till you have a reason for this all.

Assuming the parent took those parental prep classes, they tell you that the doctor will be all up in yo shit.
Ms. Reed is full of shit:
1) She has no first hand evidence.
2) Forceps and suction cups have not been in use for over thirty years, probably before she was even born.
3) "The tools of birth rape." Really? Do you think you could make it sound any more sinister? I'll bet that if allowed to continue, she would eventually say, "birth rape culture."
This is exactly the same kind of self-righteous inflated ego misanthrope that has a "Circumcision doesn't go far enough" bumper sticker.
PS:
It just occurred to me... did Ms. Reed get permission from that mother to use her picture for this article?
If not, which seems likely... by her own logic, she too is a "birth rapist."
Well I'd say its more "birth rude" than "birth rape". Whenever I have to get anything medical done I prefer for the doctor or nurse to tell me when they are are about to touch me or do something because just being touched or poked (especially somewhere private) creeps me the heck out. But at the same time you can't expect the doctor to narrate every little thing during something so hectic as labor.
UHHHMMMM, pretty sure the doctors are just trying to make sure both you and your baby live and there are as little complications as possible, also they might be rushed. This is just stupid and being over sensitive in my opinion.
