In the original story the Prince had someone apply pitch (something like glue) on the steps so that Cinderella wouldn't be able to run away (the ball actually happened every night, the Prince thought of the idea on the 3rd night). Too bad Cinderella decided to simply ditch her shoes.

I also heard she apparently gave birth to two children while still asleep. :/
