I mostly like Stephen Fry's quotes, but I don't agree with this one. The person who is offended has the right to be if the person who offended them said something really inappropriate. Like, if someone makes a rape joke and the one listening is actually its victim, you can't expect them to just carry on, even if the joke is funny. Because there are certain words, quotes or topics that bring up some bad memories or emotions in people. Everyone has these and saying that you're offended by something either means somebody is being rude to you because you deserved it or he/she's a douchebag, or that that's what your weak spot is. And since you don't want people to ruin your day by bringing up bad stuff in you, you just tell them you're offended so they stop talking about it, or not?
The problem with people is, when you try to be decent and just give a hint without making much noise, nobody gives a fuck. You must start crying like a little bitch and make a drama for others to actually care.

You shouldn't. But you should be careful around that person. Not everyone is a spoilt brat like you. Some people went through things that are painful to be reminded of. I'm not saying we should know everything about everyone we know, but if they are brave enough to tell you they really don't want to talk about it, they have been through some serious shit and you should respect that. There are topics that are made fun of that affect EVERYBODY. Do you understand if people start to censor themselves from certain topics then nobody will be able to make fun of anything because then somebody will always have a problem with it. That really is a childish mentality to think pressuring people to censor themselves is ok just because you dont like whats being said. SO FUCKING WHAT.
Guest: it's all about respect and clearly you have none. What you said is untrue, and very much so. It's actually childish for you to think that there are topics that offend everybody, because that isn't so. There are are plenty of topics that you can make fun of if you are immature enough to do so. However, it's about the people around you when you say certain things. People have a right to feel what they will feel, it doesn't matter whether you're having a good time bashing about something that offends them. If they seriously don't like it, you need to stop for the time being. Then you can go on your merry way and bad mouth to shit what you were talking about when they have left. And I agree with ewqua, "login or shut up." It isnt a matter of free speech; if you really want your opinion to be taken seriously, sprout a pair of balls and give yourself a name. Don't hide under the title "guest" just so you can bash everything and no one will no who you are. Man up, or shut up.

I agree with you there, yixiepixie (although I am a different guest than all those above.) But often on this site I have noticed that certain users seem to lump all guests together. Yes, I agree many of the loudest guests are, indeed, the stupidest. But that's not all of us. Shouldn't it not matter if a person is a guest or not when they post a comment? I would like to think that all users of funsubstance are judged not by if they have an account, or if they are a guest, but by the substance of their comment. I am by no means saying that you do this, and in fact, your comment shows me that you most likely only dislike the stupid guests. In fact, I appreciate your points. However, I believe this other guest was simply trying to point out that often, when there is one stupid guest, all other guests are punished by some, and when some people state "gosh, guests are so stupid, they shouldn't be allowed to comment on anything, only people with accounts should!" and the like, many guests
...including myself can feel alienated on this site. And yes, I know I'm ranting, and I apologize for that. And no, I do not endorse any stupid comment by another random guest. I guess I'm just trying to ask you to simply look at each post by a guest, and assume that there is a different person behind each comment, and not just annoying entity called "guest." I notice personally that, and I'm sorry this is the best thing I can think of, is like stereotypes. Like how Asians are usually thought of as super smart and nerdy, but not the whole population is, just a large portion. There is a handful of cool guests like you are, but then there's like a 75% amount of guests that are really rude and it just happens that the users see more rude guests than nice/funny guests.

Oh, sorry! I didn't see your response. Thanks! And I guess that might be true. I just no that there are many silent guests who aren't idiots, lol. And personally, I did make an account, but I kind of got bored, and I'm a little paranoid, so I just went back to being a guest. Personal choice, I kind of like being a guest better. :)
Well, there are some things that can deeply hurt others. Certain words, joking about certain things... On the other hand, there are people who are offended by /everything/. Everything just boils down to respect, really. Respect others and there's no issue.
