I didn't buy one when it came out, but I've owned one for years now. What exactly make it so "ahead of it's time"?

2008, me and my jobless friends just after graduation, in my Dad's basement, copious amounts of rum, Sour Puss, and Moosehead, watching anime my friend had burned onto DVDs, using an Xbox 360 hooked up to an old 34" CRT TV.

I understand why its illegal, I've just always seen as a sort of technicality that makes sense to me in general, but I can't say that I find possessing that stuff to be heinous in itself.
