Lol. Yeah. I started out trying to be concise, but then I just could t help it, and I was too lazy to delete that part.

We as a species split the atom. Energy from matter. Enough to never go without. Why isn’t my car nuclear powered? The goal of the scientists chasing fission/fusion was this. But it became a weapon. A weapon these scientists built hoping for peace. The goal of a thing- a philosophy- a tool- all the same thing, all in the pursuit of “becoming better” is not important. Once it leaves the drawing board and people get involved human nature becomes a factor. You define communism in its lofty goals but don’t recognize capitalism is likewise meant to motivate and reward working for societies good. Humans use the tool for their purposes. Twist intent. How do you reconcile your statement that people can choose to remain as animals, with a system that requires everyone to participate in social ownership? What of those who wish to remain “animals” and cling to individual ownership? A “perfect” system is useless if people don’t use it.

Tl:dr- ask. There’s no real danger, you’ll likely only know these people 1-4 years max and then never see them again, and you don’t need to worry about a teacher thinking your “stupid.” If you knew everything you needed, they wouldn’t have a job. They spent 4-8 years extra minimum to get their job on top of all the grades of school you haven’t done yet. And honestly... they did the work to become a highly paid professional with an easier job, for a job they knew was over worked and underpaid/appreciated. So unless they did it for passion and principal of doing just that- educating young minds and answering questions, no one in the room can consider the other “stupid.”

I still remember being afraid to ask for help in school. As an adult I can say this- the lofty idealist would say there are no stupid questions. There is truth there, however reality can be more complex. In a job for instance, at a point people may question your competence, or you may face consequences as a “slow” “difficult” or “not quite the right fit” employee. In school though....don’t care. Just don’t. If you’re afraid of what the other kids will think and can’t just say balls to them in favor of your own education (it’s unlikely you’ll see any of the much if ever again in just a few years anyway...) just see the teacher in private. Ask all the questions. The only reason you’re there is to learn. Otherwise you’re wasting your time. If they don’t help, escalate. Let parents or administrators know you asked for help and didn’t get it. Demand an education. It’s the one time in life you’ll have to truly ask questions without any real or potentially lasting risk.

Wait until your even older and looking at 20 year olds. By the time I was 30, 20 year olds looked and seemed to act the way high schoolers did to me at 20.

I suppose it depends on who, and some other context. There are some people who can make certain things work that you’d think by default were guaranteed to fail, and overall mood plays a big part.

Farts made sound? 4 comments

Many deaf people do not realize certain things make sounds- but often find out when young. Certain things however they make common sense assessments. The deaf have logic like anyone, and can figure out something might make a noise based on what other types of things they know make noise, and physics. The fact is less often that the adult or developed deaf don’t realize a thing makes a sound, but that they don’t spend a great deal of time thinking about sounds, and even less in contextualizing reaction to sound. In the case of farts- a true story is a woman who in school years was in class and was gassy. She reasoned farts might make a noise, and figured it to be like a cough or sneeze so let them go. She realized by her class mates reactions that most of the hearing do not treat the sound of a fart like the sound of a sneeze.

It’s more like you have 1,000 mars bars, and you pressure 10,000 of your friends with 1 mars bar into giving 1/10 of a mars bar each while you give 5 mars bars. But then the whole thing cost 900 mars bars to put on and pay the people who run the charities and the ads and such- so in the end only 105 mars bars make it to anyone who might need them to start, and then everyone involved feels like they’ve already done what needed done to make sure 1,000 mars bars went to those in need so they move on to the next thing.

As opposed to saying nothing and having her leave of boredom or think you’re dissinterested? Some people won’t like us, no matter how much we like them. It’s ok. If we give people the best version of ourselves the choice wether they want to get to know us or not is up to them. Of course- trying is up to each of us. It all comes down to what we want out of life. It’s our choice is we let irrational fear prevent us from doing the things we want or not.

1.Fly is not the opposite of fall, or even an antonym. 2.All letters have more uses in math than English. In math a letter is just a variable and can be anything, even a picture of you like, and have infinite meanings. By the same token they have the same number of uses as they serve if single purpose. 3. Neither version of “don’t you dare” follows strict grammar rules, the contraction being an idiom, and the “you” being a repetitive intensifier. You can omit the “you” and have the sentence make sense, it only exists to emphasize your statement to the listener. Hence it sounds weird when we say it as “do not you dare” as again- “do not dare” or even “do not” wpuld suffice. It’s overly repetitive and not part of the construct but just “dressing.” Like wearing a hat on top of a hat. 4. Envelopes- reaching. You can use any moisture, and non self sealing envelopes don’t require moisture at all- classically wax was used as a seal. Wrapping paper in paper is no stranger than a burrito....

This is very telling. “Blue chip” investments are generally real and tangible things- neccesities. They don’t tend to fluctuate wildly and are relatively predictable and offer steady long term growth because demand is more easily predictable. You see wild fluctuations in price for magic beans and imaginary things. Facebook is only worth money until people stop using it, or like another platform better. Grains have been and likely will be a staple needed for basic life forever. They may dip and rise with fad diets or bio fuels etc, but they are needed. They’ll never hit 0 across the board like an app segment might. Investing is about managing risk, balancing potential return against loss, and research. Investing in DVD technology is a bad idea right now. Investing in electric cars is risky, but may pay off big. If you make a bad invevstment it isn’t anyone’s fault but yours for not doing your homework, and picking smart- or playing it safe over a huge risk in uncertain rewards.

That is at the least battery, or assault and battery where the two are conflated. It can be elevated to assault with a deadly weapon at the prosecutions discretion. It is both a tort and a crime, meaning you can be arrested and face criminal charges, as well as being sued in civil court for damages to correct the issue, emotional damages, and possible loss of income etc. if applicable. It is considered agrivated assault in many current and former British territories and the UK, and legal precident exists. Even if you are not convicted, or the sentence is light, If charges are pressed you will be arrested and jailed for assault until trial or bail. If the hair has religious or cultural meaning, such as beards may in many cultures, you may also face charges in many countries under anti hate crime laws.

Online shopping in a nutshell 1 comments

While total price is the same- paid shipping is often higher quality than the free option. Some free shipping options don’t even specify a carrier and are often the cheapest possible courier and method. Sites like eBay don’t allow you to give shipping feedback on free shipping, which limits your ability to recourse for bad shipping, and if a shipping guarantee isn’t met etc there isn’t really a shipping credit or refund to be given, or it is often harder to get. On the other hand though- if a refund is needed, or you feel one is likely- such as a “risky” purchase where you may not trust the quality of the goods- it can be better to take the free shipping, as shipping is often not refundable, so you may lose $5 plus the price to ship back in the above example versus just the return shipping. There are many particulars that make the best buying decision, but it’s best to consider the practical benefits and drawbacks to decide.

Beauty is the wrong word. It’s highly subjective- picture the epitomous 70’s porn star mustache and thick body hair. Those have mostly fallen out of style, as have frosted tips, or neck beards. Picture a teen heart throb, then try and picture a 40 year old woman going out with a 40 year old man dressed like that. We are looking for suitable mates. In human society the historical imperative has been less focused on physical beauty than style and grooming which show social knowledge, ability, and potential. Equally or more importantly in humans- the ability to provide comfort and support. Cars, clothes, jewelry, homes, in short- all signs of money or power, responsibility and social status. Humans don’t need feathers to show off because we invented Lamborghinis and Mercedes. As a species the thing in history that has made men most successful in mating has been money and power. Allowing men to either win or seize by force whatever woman they desired.

Depending on the game I’m 100% with this, or the opposite. In games where I can hoard items and health items are plentiful and easy enough to get I will chug health potions like a mad man. Hot key status. If it’s a game where health is expensive or hard to get or the worst- limited carry of health items... well. You better save that. You might need it later.

That’s pretty much a (somehow longer) version of what I just said. That was my point. The scenarios are not the same. The movie was specifically designed to give the least “humanity” to the villains, the most “justification” to John Wick, and enough generality as to not get bogged down in details. There’s no question that in real life, killing even 1 person for the unjust death of a dog or theft of personal property would be hard to defend, near impossible if you spent a length of time tracking them down and killing them and anyone who got in your way. My point was that John Wick can’t be viewed simply as: “man goes on a murder spree over his dog.” It’s not a straight forward narrative about a guy and his dog, it’s all place holders for emotions and situations that are fairly universally human. It’s about grief, human emotion, coping, anger, revenge, power/powerlessness, the quest to heal after trauma. All the particulars are just dressing to set that up and aren’t meant to be literal.

Ideally neither animal would be. If one has a pet snake that will only eat live mice though- the options become limited, and aren’t free of ethical question. There’s still the ethical question of wether it’s any better to have someone else kill mice en masse so that you aren’t culpable. I can say that given the choice of death sentence between being caged, then frozen and killed- or being able to fight a giant snake and possibly survive- I can’t say either speaks to me, but if it were my life I’d likely choose the only choice that at least offers some chance I’d survive. A mouse of course is not given that choice, nor is known to be capable of fully grasping it, but the nature of most living things is that between certain death and unpleasant but possible survival we tend to choose to try and survive.

You know... there’s some debate to be had here over censorship and political correctness run amok... but to be honest? I grew up in a world where the bomb emoji, the gun emoji, all- emojis, they didn’t exist. They’ve been on this earth a very short time. There was violence before emojis, I’m guessing there will be after. I doubt good or bad there is any meaningful impact to changing emojis. By the same token that there are bigger problems and better uses of time by these companies than changing out to “peaceful” emojis, there are better uses of my time than worrying about emojis; or even using emojis. I’ll just have to think of better ways to comically express dated slang through pictures like: “this food was the bomb” or “drama bomb!” I may even have to resort to using words to express ideas. A true step backwards for humanity. Everyone knows that language evolves from primitive written thought, to communication via pictographic symbol. That’s anthropology 101.

On the surface John wick is a power fantasy. An invincible bad ass who can do whatever they want, get their way, and take revenge against anyone who wrongs them. He has no checks or ballances beyond himself to stop him from getting his way at any cost he deems appropriate. Beneath that it is about very basic human reactions to loss and being wronged. It’s not about the dog or his wife. We are shown these are very bad men. The kind who are set up as bad by cartoonish villainy in drugs, murder- even killing an innocent puppy and laughing. They do evil for the sake of evil. The movie is designed so we can root for John. If the police impounded his car for parking tickets, and put his dog down for being dangerous, or someone accidentally hit and totaled his car and the puppy died in the accident, we’d look at the film very differently. It’s not made to be gritty realism or moral sermonizing. John is his worlds greatest hit man. He isn’t the poster child of mental or emotional health.

I applaud @funkmasterrex. I knew many snake owners who “enjoyed the show” of feeding as opposed to seeing it as an unpleasant reality. I personally don’t enjoy watching animals eat each other, I don’t find entertainment in watching snakes eat live or dead prey. The fact is however that no matter how uncomfortable reality makes us- some things are beyond our control, and like “carbon credits” we can try to offset harm, or shift our guilt, but when you feed something meat or eat it- unless you cloned a mindless hunk of meat- something suffered or died regardless. Animals do get to “choose” to be predators or prey. We are all born with strengths and weaknesses. Prey animals are simply those that get eaten. Nice kill snakes too. Not every mouse will. That’s how evolution works. The strong are meant to survive and pass genes to make the species stronger. No one wants to be eaten (well... maybe some parasites etc.) someone’s gonna do the eating, and someone is getting eaten.
