Oh my. Fear not- the theologies are sympathetic- ceiling cat rules the ceilings above while capibara walks the earth below with the other beings of the mud which are below ceiling cat. Capibara must be always vigilant for ceiling cat takes what it wants from those who are foolish enough to turn their backs on it. Together they create a duality like yin and Yang, a cycle of entropy that renews and destroys- each critical to the balance between ceiling and floor, for should what lies between the ceiling and floor cease- the world becomes a chaos where the ceiling and floor are one in the same and become the roof! This is the goal of the roof muskrat Sl’aak’nesh- a world of all roof.

Yes. As said- If the pelvis is present. I wrote a lot because there is a bit of detail in there. The gist of which was that identifying specific demographic and gender information from complete or adequate and reasonably preserved skeletal remains has a high level of accuracy, but where there are incomplete remains, deteriorated remains, or in some cases, where there is ambiguity for misc reasons including abnormal structures, like most things it is not 100% accurate 100% of the time.
The point being that it is not “racist” or some type of eugenics to state that our skeletons are different, but the image is also metaphorical and not literal so while we can be as pedantic as we want, metaphor is generally flawed but broadly illustrates a concept.

Of course laws could theoretically protect our privacies better while using these technologies- but generally they don’t, and while people are still using them and embracing them knowing the truth behind their invasions of privacy, companies and governments are generally disincentivized to mend their wayward ways.

We accept and embrace these things. People are running into the arms of self driving cars and vehicles like Tesla with their “Sentry mode” and cameras and persistent internet connections. We place tracking devices on ourselves now and people love maps and GPS and “street views” but in their support are also supporting all the cars going around filming and mapping it out. “AR apps” for fun and convenience without the thought that when you use that virtual home decorating AR app etc. you are potentially mapping the interior of your home and giving that data away to someone who can use or share it.

I mean… private citizens should have the rights to privacy. That said your secrets usually don’t put tens of thousands or millions of lives at risk or have the potential to start a third world war or place horrifying weapons and technology into the hands of bad actors, or destroy centuries of diplomacy and infrastructure etc. so government secrets are a little different generally.
Of course in much of the world the largest erosion of privacy overall and to the government has been….. you. Privacy has become unimportant to most people. Huge support is prevalent for things like making wages and pay scales public and discussing pay. Social media and literally putting our private business and thoughts in a public space for anyone to see.
Apps and technology that make things possibly more convenient or just feel that way, but as an inherent or reasonably deduced trade off expose your privacy.

.. is big enough or a coast is- we can usually work it out.
2. It’s tricky balancing public space. Like a neighborhood. You might want a home to have peace and your neighbor bought a home to throw parties or do noisy wood work in the space. You might want tranquil nature and a quaint aesthetic and your neighbor wants to put up their 1/2 scale transformers lawn sculptures. Most neighborhoods have rules- noise between certain hours on certain days and such, maybe we need rules like that for certain beaches.
3. I’d really like to see a larger consumer space for things like pairing multiple wireless headphones to a single device or directional speakers. If the technology and norm were there it could help make it even more socially taboo to blast music in public spaces that everyone can hear.

I suppose it can go either way- sometimes a lively beach atmosphere with music and power sports and people playing is just the ticket, and sometimes the deep contemplation of the sea is what you need. I suppose for me, one of my greatest pet peeves on loud music is when it doesn’t suit my tastes or mood. lol. Of course since we can’t generally know and please the tastes of all others, it is generally poor manners to do things like boat our music in public.
That said…
1. I think it depends on the beach. There often are beaches that have rules that prohibit power sports and certain other activities like drinking etc. or are known more as “locals beaches” and such- perhaps there should be some clear designators socially and legally between “party beaches” and “reflective beaches.” I grew up with no shortage of beaches and ample coastline, so if you didn’t like the atmosphere at one beach you could just go to another. I know it isn’t like that everywhere though, but when a beach..

@kingswitcherii- it’s a fair and honest point, and I appreciate it.
@karlboll- lol. Thank you. Though that also means I am failing, as all of my posts are meant to subtly influence people to support a new world order where the Capibara rule the globe.

Look man, I could talk about all the ways stealing a dog is a particularly cruel and deliberate crime, go on and on about philosophy. Let’s keep this simple today.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Value your life enough to not fuck around and find out who doesn’t walk some path of aspirational enlightenment and might shoot you for play ding ding ditch. Being an asshole, being an idiot, do you deserve to die for these things? That’s a philosophical question. You CAN die for them. You might. So decide if it is worth it and live your life by your values, hope your choice is one that gives you the best odds at a long happy one.

Not nowadays. Even like 5 years ago a budget iPhone was $600-700 and the current models are approaching $2k for the top of the line stuff. The galaxies and Razrs are like $1000 and pixel or galaxy fold are close to $2k.
$1000 phone barely makes you current let alone fancy.

So to carry the metaphor a bit further- maybe you can tell people apart if you have invested the equivalent hours into identifying differences between human beings, but to anyone who hasn’t they will more or less be the same.

Of course the point of that meme isn’t generally that we are literally all the same “inside.” You’d have to be pretty foolish to think that given that without some fancy degree or study in bones… you probably have seen taller and shorter people and if you are over the age of 6 or so and have an IQ higher than 40 you probably realize that means their bones are different than yours. So, derp. Yeah. Human skeletons aren’t all exactly identical. Asides height, looking at maybe 5-20 human faces in your life might clue you in. It’s more metaphorical- and to the average person who hasn’t studied skeletal identification… they probably cannot tell two skeletons or similar size apart by sex or ancestry etc. unless they are VERY different or distinct in their features.

Context can help or hinder accurate identification as well. Finding remains that are somewhat ambiguous but favor being female, in a setting that historically females aren’t believed to be found, could cause the remains to be assumed male even if they are actually female, but finding remains that are ambiguous but with a setting and artifacts that support a certain ethnic or sex identification for example, can help make a determination.
Overall ancestry can be determined through skeletal remains with fairly high accuracy when dealing with remains of the relatively recently deceased however.

Well yes. And no. Generally speaking we can tell things like general state of development and thusly infer she from bone. Generally speaking there are certain features prominent or largely representative of a given group. So we can INFER things like age, sex, socioeconomic status, ancestral lineage from skeletons. We can do so with a decent degree of accuracy, although various factors can make certain identificaron improbable and there are cases where information like sex is disputed or ambiguous. Obviously the more recent the remains are, the more favorable the conditions they were found in are, the more complete and intact the remains are, the more accurate we can often infer certain facts.

In short- there are two sides to every story. For those stories we do not have the details on and have only one side, our own biases and experiences tend to paint our reactions. We are more likely to believe that which we more closely and personally relate to. If you have had or have bosses that overwork employees and exploit their workforce you are more likely to believe it if an employee is talking about how they were mistreated and got “justice” that they are justified.

So it’s a good story, a fun one. If it is true and accurate I’m all for it in this specific case as a tale of clever justice and community. That said- I lack the details to actually say if “justice was done” here. It happens in cases of child custody all the time, a parent wants custody of kids they don’t have current physical possession of and they enlist the aid of friends or strangers against an ex who they say wrongfully has the children to essentially kidnap their own children.

A court will generally compel a settlement that may leave one or more parties upset or happy, but will be equitable on the eyes of the law and an impartial arbitrator.

The point being there that if they both adopted the cat they both own the cat and it isn’t actually legally right for either to unilaterally keep the cat. There must be a settlement. Shared visitation is one possible route if neither wants to surrender their time with the cat and they are willing to put the cat though that, monetary compensation is another route- one keeps the cat and the other agrees to a sum, or to “trade” interest in the cat to gain sole possession of some other shared asset when divvying up assets, or the forfeiture of a non shared asset such as “well- I always liked that lamp you had when you moved in..” if an agreement cannot be made then a court is usually necessary.

They don’t know your mom or that relationship and arguably with or without the watch you still have memories. We can’t legislate what items help people feel or remember things more intensely. We can’t even quantify that effect. So while I personally find it messed up- pets are generally property under law. A cat you paid $50 to adopt is generally valued at $50. The food and toys and all that- you can use if you get another cat, and you’d be out the money if the cat was hit by a car or choked on food. We can’t say how long an animal might live but sometimes it comes into factor of an animal is healthy and kept indoors and very young to say there was a reasonable expectation of at least some number of years.

In the USA most people get 3-5 days off work for the death of a qualified immediate family member. Meaning that someone who’s father is the most important person in their life and best friend and suddenly dies gets the same time off as someone who doesn’t feel strongly about their father and who’s father died slowly and expectedly. Someone who literally is happy to see a father die gets more time off than someone who has someone die whom they grew up in the same house with and treated as family for 20+years. How do you measure or weigh who someone may feel the loss of most and need that time? In property, if someone breaks your phone they either buy you a new one or pay you what your used phone was worth. What if you say that the phone is worth millions to you because it was the last gift of a cherished loved one? How does a legal system work and how many abuses are there when almost everything you own could be “priceless” to you? Your mothers watch is just a watch to anyone else.

be treated as enrichment you are deprived of. So you may or may not have some financial stake in the animal and as to rights of ownership that comes down almost exclusively to paperwork and whose name is on it. If both their names are on the paperwork for the animal they generally have equal rights to the animal.
While sentimental value and such can come to play with any property case, animals are living creatures and members of the family or close friends. The problem is the law doesn’t and really cannot value sentimentality.
