Well, yes. Scooby's a Great Dane. Great Danes are a real dog breed.

They are vengeance, they are the night, they are... named after Ozzy Osbourne. As they are a relatively newly-discovered species (2009) they don't yet have an agreed upon common name. However, 'bat frog' has been used to refer to them due to their high-pitched chirping call which sounds similar to a bat using echolocation. (They hunger for justice as well as bugs)

"Trichobatrachus robustus" - also called the hairy frog or horror frog. Got a problem with that, bub? Though they lack the adamantium skeleton, they do have bone claws that they can unsheathe when threatened. They do this by breaking a cartilage nodule which connects the claw to the rest of their toe bone. Retraction is believed to occur naturally as the tissue broken by the claw regenerates. Their hair actually consists of skin extensions, and only shows up on males who have bred. They help increase their oxygen intake while they're guarding their eggs. (Males who don't manage to mate go on to join the X-Frens instead)
