Froggo Fun #70 - Happy Women's/Mother's Day! 3 comments
happy_frog · 4 years ago
I'm aware that Mother's day is celebrated on different dates in different parts of the world, and that today is actually International Women's Day. But since most moms tend to be women, I decided to group the two together.
*
The pic is a painting, and it shows a poison dart frog tending to her tadpole in a bromeliad plant.
*
I'm sure we can agree that being a mom is hard, and that being a girl has its challenges. So, let's take a minute to appreciate all the people of the female persuasion who bring about positivity in our lives.

Man, baby pigeons look like those crackheads who hang out near convenience stores.

Yeah, it's a real brand (and it's for kids no less). Sold by Frog Bikes (est. 2013), the '69' refers to the minimum leg length (in cm, roughly 27 in) required to work the pedals.

I hear they've been replaced by netherite pigeons in the last update.

"Nyctibatrachus poocha" - betcha can't guess how they got their name. One of the 12 new species of night frogs discovered in 2011, they are endemic to the Western Ghats in India. (They called me a mad man, but I knew frogs were cats. I knew it!)

Oh are you really? I thought for sure you were a family of pygmy marmosets.
*
Speaking of family, Froppy has two younger siblings, which makes her an Oneechan. And since her parents are almost always away on business, she basically raised them by herself. That makes her best Oneechan.

Yass. Been waiting for these guys. I used to see and hear them all the time growing up. So their call has a very nostalgic quality for me.

Oh, that's different. Bones that have been extracted and treated for study aren't the same as bones with rotting flesh still on them.
*
I think I get what you're saying though. Every bit of bone has a history behind it, and that's probably what you see. Like, it was once alive, it lead a full life, and even after death it remained intact and existed through certain events until it was found. So it has stories to tell, much as living person would.

I'd say Hannibal lecter is actually advancing species equality. I mean if other animals can be eaten, why not humans too?

I got mixed feelings about that story. But I do envy being able to see frogs on a regular basis (living ones, of course)
